Better than I'd believed possible
I have had a string of concerts attended by artists I've admired for years, only to be disappointed by their latest songs - loud, tuneless, and lyrically incomprehensible.
An old and very dear friend, who I knew from my days as an ATLiens, unexpectedly visited one afternoon. I managed to secure a second ticket, and fortunately, a party member near him couldn't make it, so we got to sit together.
I looked up the lyrics to every song, both familiar and unfamiliar. I was amazed by the depth and emotion in the new material. It was evident that the work was as thoughtful and well-crafted lyrically and musically as it had ever been. Additionally, let me mention that he looks far better now than he did in the 70s, and his warm, childlike smile is infectious. His rendition of "Stay" as a second encore left no doubt that he truly meant every word.
I was so captivated by the performance that I was willing to pay the price of two tickets in Bridgeport to see him perform at the Beacon Theater. I am now a devoted fan.
